Summer Teams Postal League 2018-19

Hi Everyone

Welcome to a new Season for the Teams Postal, and a special welcome to Mana who have joined in this year.

The vote for changing the February  round into a February- March round and have the last round in April was passed 20 to 9.

Just a reminder that all entered archers need to be a member of ANZ but can join as a Postal member to participate in any of the ANZ Postal shoots. This only costs $30 for adults and $20 for Youth Archers.

Also that Youth for Intermediate, Cub and Kiwi can shoot a Short Canadian which is 30 arrows each at 45, 35 and 25 metres But please indicate this on their score sheet that is returned to me (For the sake of postal records)

Also as introduced last year, all archers don’t have to shoot at the same time on your Shoot Day but no archer can shoot it twice in the same you could have a group shoot at 9 am and another at 3 pm and all scores can be considered for the day. But do have to have a Senior witness present, ie you can’t shoot and score it by yourself.

And you can shoot it more than once in the allocated time for the round and return the results from the Best Shoot.

I am working with Steve Clifton on getting the scoring into Archery OSA but in the meantime please return results on the Excel form that is on the same page as the draw.

I hope everyone has a great season

Summer Teams Postal League 2017-18

So that is it for another Teams Postal Season. I would like people’s feedback on the rule changes we did this year as I am not sure if they assisted in reducing defaults, but I see there is still a few in February.

Those rule changes being

  • Intermediate divisions and younger being able to shoot the “Short Canadian”
  • Being able to shoot at different times on the same day.

I know Mountain Green used the second change on several occasions, though our youth archers preferred to shoot the full Canadian.

If you have any suggested rule changes please let me know and I will put them out for a vote. I would like to suggest we make the February round a two month round like Dec/Jan and hence have the final round in March as Feb is a short month and is flat out, especially for the Field Clubs.

So on to the results!

Starting with Division 7, this was the most competitive Division this year with only 3 points between first and last, but Grey Goose managed a clean sweep to take it out.

Division 6 was taken out by Trentham, also with a clean sweep.

Division 5 was a tight competition between Ellesmere A and Lakeview A both with 12 points, so the winner, decided on total points, is Ellesmere.

Division 4 ended with another win to Rosebank, being the fourth year in a row of them proceeding up the divisions, lookout Division 1 in three years.

Division 3 was another tight competition given 4 teams scored over 11,000 points and both River Glade B and Timaru A scored 14 so it also came down to points scored and River Glade sneaked in.

Southland managed a clean sweep of Division 2 so will be going the top division next year.

Finally Congrats to Gisborne on taking out the Trophy this year, in another tightly fought competition at the top.

Hi All

Welcome to another Season of the Archery NZ Teams Postal. Especially to the 6 new teams that we have this season !!!
Please use the new Score sheet when doing returns, but If you don't have access to Excel please let me know an I can send a Word Sheet.
Please when sending in you result sheet send the Filled in Excel sheet, Please do not sent results as a PDF, as this takes much more time to process.
You are probably all keen to know the results for the two proposed rule changes, so here you are:

  • For the first change to allow Kiwi, Cubs and Intermediate youth to shoot 45,35 & 25 mtrs, was passed 25 votes to 3 (note there were some teams that didn’t vote)
  • For the Second change to be able to shoot at different Times on the same day, it was passed with 16 for and 12 against. This second rule allows the shoot to be shot at different times in the same day. Note that no archer can shoot this twice in the same day. As previously, you can shot more than once in the same month, and submit your best result for that round.
  • You will also note that to balance the divisions, from division 4 down that more teams were promoted than required to fill in gaps. And also divisions 5, 6 and 7, I have put 5 teams in each division to balance the numbers.

If you have any questions please e-mail.

Hi All

So here are the results for this years Teams Postal League, sorry for the wait.

So starting at Division 6

This had been dominated by Lakeview A up until February when they unfortunately had a bit much on and defaulted which left the door open for Marangai B to sneak ahead and take the number one position. So Lakeview got second with Randwick C in third. But don't dismay Lakeview you will be going up to Div 5 as well due to an extra gap in the draw in Division 3

In Division 5 Rosebank dominated throughout the season with a clean sweep, with Christchurch C coming in second and Mountain Green C third.

Division 4 also saw a clean sweep this time by Marangai A, But with Mt Green B hot on their tails and Randwick B in Third. But worth noting Marangui A got the highest accumulated score outside division 1 and 2 coming in 8th in the total scores stakes(see below).

Division 3 was taken out by Randwick A with Timaru A in second and Whakatane in third.

So now Division 2 and this was a battle between Greenwood and Mt Green A with it coming down to the final month when Mt Green beating them to equalise the total point s at 14 but winning on total score having 12517 points to Greenwoods 12153. Worth noting  Mt Greens score was the 2rd highest in the League.

And Finally Division 1 and the league winners.

Auckland A got the highest total score of 12571, but  unfortunately for them lost their most crucial match against Christchurch A, so congratulations go to Christchurch A Team and the League trophy is heading South to Christchurch.

Here are come other stats that people may find interesting.

Top Teams Accumulated Scores through all divisions. The following are the teams that scored over 12000 points in order with their Division and Average. Note that if Lakeview A  in division 6 scored 10023 but that was with one default in February so if you disregard this, there average was  2505.7 which would have placed them in Third on the Average Table

Finally, Watch this space, as I am going to send out some rule changes for teams to vote on later this year. First one being to allow Jama divisions  up to Intermediate to shoot a Short Canadian (Not Justin Beber), which is three shorter distances. And two other areas that need addressing are the problem with Feburary being hard for teams to get shoots in, due to a number of reasons including it being a short month and a of of events on that month. Also the other area we are looking at is when you get very good teams enter in and whitewashing teams in the lower divisions on their way up, which doesn't make it much fun for the lower divisions. This is probably a little more controversial as I have heard a wide opinions on this.

So have a great Winter, and you will here from me in the next couple of months.

Summer Teams Postal League 2016-17

Here are the results for the October Round of the Archery NZ Teams Postal League.

There are some close results especially in Division 2 and it looks like the Battle between Auckland A and Christchurch A at the top is going to be another long and hard one this year with only 2 points difference in their first Rounds. Also good to see some great scores from Lakeview, but this highlighting again the issue of having really good teams starting at the bottom making those lower divisions unbalanced with the need to look at a fair way push them into a higher division earlier than they would. Perhaps these good teams can be slotted into gaps left from teams that have withdrawn, but  at the discretion of the Coordinator. Lakeview A getting the third highest score of the month at 2539 for example really doesn’t help the competition in Division 6. Just food for thought.

If everyone can double check their Scores as this putting this together is a  manual process and there are chances of me making mistakes.

Speaking of which,  I have to apologise to Division 3 as I missed that Gisborne had only entered 1 team this year, so I will count the remaining matches against Gisborne B as a win and teams due to play them will have a bye.

Just a reminder to get your results in by the 6th of the following month so I can get these results out promptly

Hi One and All
The Summer Outdoor Teams Postal League has begun !! See the Draw HERE
Welcome to Lakeview with two teams and good to see  Geraldine and Marangai adding extra teams  But unfortunately Dunedin, Rotorua, Suva and Wanganui have not entered this year and a couple of clubs have reduced their number of teams. This leaves us with six full divisions which should see some great competition. Don't forget to have a revision of the rules which are HERE
Can clubs please us the  scoresheet which you can download HERE  for returning scores. This makes a big difference to the times it takes to processing results. If you don't have excel then I can send you a word version of this.
Can you please check the draw and let me know if there are any mistakes.
Good Luck Everyone
